ServiceNow – Azure DevOps Comments Visibility Use Cases
Use Case 1
You have mapped ServiceNow’s Work Notes field to AzureDevOps’ System.History field.
In this case, when you add a comment to the Work Notes field or System.History field—that comment will be synced to the other mapped field.
Use Case 2
You have mapped ServiceNow's Work Notes field to AzureDevOps’ System.History field.
In this case, when you add a comment to the Additional Comments field, then, that comment will be ignored, and will not be synced to the System.History field.
Use Case 3
You have mapped ServiceNow’s Additional Comments field to AzureDevOps’ System.History field, without enabling Comment Visibility.
In this case, when you add a comment to the Additional Comment or System.History fields, then, that comment will be synced to the mapped field.
Use Case 4
You have mapped ServiceNow’s Additional Comments field to AzureDevOps’ System.History field without enabling Comment Visibility.
In this case, when you add a comment to the Work Notes field, then, that Work Note comment will be ignored, and will not be synced to the System.History field.
Use Case 5
You have mapped ServiceNow’s Additional Comments field to ADO’s System.History field, enabling Comment Visibility.
In this case, when you add a comment to the Additional Comment’s field, then, that comment will be synced to the System.History field — even if you have enabled the comment visibility settings.
Use Case 6
You have mapped ServiceNow’s Additional Comments field to ADO’s System.History field, enabling Comment Visibility, and you have specified "Private (ServiceNow)<== Null(Azure DevOps)”.
In this case, when you add a comment to the System.History field, then, that comment is synced to the Work Notes field.
Use Case 7
You have mapped ServiceNow’s Additional Comments field to ADO’s System.History field, enabling Comment Visibility, and you have specified "Private (ServiceNow) ==> Null(Azure DevOps)”:
In this case, when you add a comment to the Work Notes field, then, that comment will be synced to the System.History field.
Use Case 8
You have mapped ServiceNow’s Additional Comments to ADO’s System.History field enabling Comment Visibility, and you have specified "Private (ServiceNow) ==> Null(Azure DevOps)”:
In this case, when you add a comment to the Additional Comments field, then, that comment will not be synced to the System.History field and will be ignored.
